There is very little privacy on The Internet these days! However we aim to do our bit in defending it. Here is our policy on it:

Do we collect any of your personal information?

We may (repeat: MAY) collect the following kinds of information from and about you:

  • Information you provide to us when you create an account, place an order, subscribe to our email update service, report a problem, or ask a question. For example, we may ask for your name, contact details (such as your address and email address), delivery address, payment details, information about the products you have ordered, your feedback, and the nature of your query.
  • Information we automatically collect from you when you use our website, including the content you view, the websites you visit before and after visiting our website, the advertisements you click on and the behaviour patterns of your visitors. This information helps us create better products and services.
  • Information we collect about you when you use our apps and other interactive features that we may provide.

What use do we put that information to?

We may use the information we collect to fulfil your orders, provide customer support, and allow you to access your account and manage your orders. We may also use this information to help us improve our products and services. In certain cases, we may also use this information to contact you for marketing purposes. You can request details of these uses by contacting us.

Cookies: do we use them?

We also may, in the future, use cookies and other tracking technologies to track user behaviour across our website and apps in order to help us improve the user experience. Please note, however, that we will not store any personally identifiable information in the cookies or other tracking technologies that we use.

These technologies make it easier for you to use our website, but we will not track or record your name or address. The information we collect via these technologies is anonymous and any personal data you submit is not stored at any time.

The most common types of cookies we use are for traffic measurement and to record user behaviour across our website and apps. These measures help us to ensure that our website works smoothly, track user behaviour to improve the user experience, and make our website more relevant to users.

What do we do to keep this site secure?

We take our responsibility to keep our website secure very seriously. We want to ensure, as much as possible, that our users are safe when they use our website, so we use strong security measures on it. We also use security software to protect your information should a cyber attack occur, we monitor our website for potential vulnerabilities, and we make it easy for you to report potential problems (see our 'About us' page). We intend to respond quickly to such problems, and address them as soon as possible to keep our website safe for our users.

Who looks after website security?

Gordon Strong is responsible for the security of our website; he works closely with third-party security experts to monitor it for potential vulnerabilities. We also take steps to keep our website updated and secure.

Do we share data with anyone?

We may share non-personally identifiable information with the following third parties:

  • Service providers who help us provide the products and services you request, process your orders, and operate our website;
  • Service providers that help us administer our website, handle customer support requests, or collect data for marketing research;
  • Advertisers who help us show relevant ads when you visit other websites;
  • Affiliates who help us promote products and services;
  • Third-party business partners and others whose products or services we think you might find useful

How long will we retain your personal data for?

We will only keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, or to maintain the law. In some cases, we may need to keep your personal data for longer, for example, if we are required to do so by law or if we reasonably believe that it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of The HGV Web, our customers, and others. You can request details of how long we retain your personal data by contacting us.

What are your rights to the data we hold about you?

Under certain circumstances, you may be able to request information about the personal data we hold about you so that you can check that it is correct and/or request that we stop using or sharing it. You can request this by contacting us. You can also update your contact details and/or preferences to stop receiving communications from us. If you would like to stop receiving marketing communications from us, please contact us and we’ll take action as soon as reasonably possible. If you have questions or concerns about the use of your personal data, you can contact us; see our 'About us' page. We’ll investigate your concerns and try to resolve any issues.

Do we transfer your data outside of the UK?

An wasy question. The answer is'no'. We do not allow tracking software that can harvest your data on our site.

Are there legal reasons why we may be obliged to disclose your data?

We may need to share your data if we are legally required to do so, or if it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of The HGV Web, our customers, or others.

Can you contact us?

Absolutely. If you have any questions or concerns about the use of your personal data, you can contact us. We’ll investigate your concerns and try to resolve any issues. Our contact details are provided on our 'Contact us' page.

Will this policy change in the future?

Quite possibly. We suggest that you re-visit this page on future visits to make sure that you still find it acceptable.
